    1. The whole design is something special I think, the contrast between the clean white and the background detail and colour, and the soft with the sharp.

    2. Yeah, they make me shudder a bit as well. Creepy little things, but fun to use at the table in encounters.

We like the little octo-dude too. Thanks!

    3. Did this on Bristol board a while back...it was buried in the old black portfolio-case and I only re-discovered it a few days ago. I might draw-up a variant of this critter, now that we've seen what nature intended...

  2. I think for many people these and creatures like them might be even more nightmarish than the more fantastical ones, as intense as those can get. There's certainly something oneiric about this idea.

    1. I like the mix of mundane and outre, going from simple annoying swarms of gnats (possibly with a Initiative penalty, chance of disease, or visibility penalty), to wandering houses that might not be there when you get back, and so on. Some times it's fun to use un-monsters in a game such as a hungry wardrobe, a couple of squabbling carpets or some pillows...

The most frightening things often are the most familiar things that aren't acting appropriately any more. And yes, that gets into Oneirical things pretty quickly...
